Dressed in the colors of Michael Jordan’s alma mater, UNC, the Air Jordan 1 Low SE Tokyo Vintage pays homage to Jordan’s first visit to Japan during the Nike Hoop Heroes event in 1996. In addition to Jordan, the event also featured Charles Barkley, Jason Kidd, Michael Finley, Damon Stoudemire and special guest Carl Lewis. At that event, a kid in UNC uniform had the chance to go head-to-head with MJ (pictured below) in the Air Jordan 12. These Jordan 1 Row lizard skin Nike logos are a nod to the pair of shoes that Jordan wore in action. That boy, Keijuro Matsui, is now 37 years old and still playing professional basketball. Nearly 27 years later, Jordan Brand pays homage to that day with this special shoe.
The Air Jordan 1 Low features colorblock colorblocking, an exposed foam tongue, a distressed midsole, Off White laces and a textured Swoosh. Featuring a white, gray and blue color scheme, closer inspection reveals yellow wings on the heel, Jumpman logo on the tongue and mixed material construction.
